TPO White 3"Seam Tape DESCRIPTION TPO White 3" Seam Tape is an extruded white rubber tape adhesive designed to provide a high strength, watertight seam in TPO roofing membranes. Seam Tape is soft and tacky for quick grab to TPO and provides high initial strength at 70°C (158°F). The 3" tape is available in 100' lengths and comes pre-applied to silicone treated release liner. INSTALLATION Splicing with TPO 3" Seam Tape. IMPORTANT: Ensure both mating surfaces are free of debris and no moisture is present on the splicing surfaces. 1. Position the top membrane to overlap the bottom membrane by a minimum of 76 mm (3"). Mark the bottom membrane with a pen 12 mm (1/2") from the edge of the top membrane to allow for 6 (1/4") of the tape exposed. Fold the top membrane back 305 mm to 357 mm (12" to 15") in order to apply clear primer and tape. 2. Using a clean rag saturated with cleaner, thoroughly clean an area on both sheets at least 102 mm (4") wide where the tape will be applied. Remove all visible debris or dirt and maintain surfaces free from all moisture, oil, and other contaminates. Change rags frequently to avoid depositing previously removed materials. Allow the cleaned membrane to dry completely. 3. Stir Clear Primer thoroughly before using. DO NOT THIN! Using a scrub pad and handle or roller 76 mm (3") wide, apply an even coat of primer to the cleaned areas of the seam area. Avoid globs and puddles. Allow to dry completely to a dry finger touch. 4. Unroll seam tape along the marks on the bottom membrane for the entire length of the seam. NOTE: Do not remove the release paper from the seam tape at this time. 5. With the release paper still on the tape, hand roll the entire strip of seam tape, using a silicone coated or rubber roller, ensuring good contact between the membrane and seam tape. 6. Allow the top membrane to fall freely onto the bottom membrane. Pull the release paper from the tape away from the seam ensuring contact first by brushing your hand across the top membrane at a right angle. 7. Hand roll the entire splice, first at a right angle toward the outer edge and then along the length of the splice using a silicone coated or rubber roller ensuring good contact between the membrane and the seam tape. 8. T- joints. Using a clean rag saturated with cleaner, thoroughly clean the areas of the T-joint and at the seam tape end lap. Apply a “high profile” bead of TPO Edge Caulk to the area of the T-joint seam and at the seam tape end lap or cover with 5" white TPO Cover Tape.
