TPO Peel & Stick Pipe Boots

DESCRIPTION

TPO Peel & Stick Pipe Boot is an injection-molded TPO component with a white pressure-sensitive tape that makes installations simpler and easier than using field fabricated or field flashing procedures and details. The boot is specifically designed to be used in roofing applications for flashing of round penetrations. The pipe boot will fit various penetrations and shall be cut to the correct pipe diameter before installations. Please refer to current WeatherStar TPO specifications and details for specific information.

INSTALLATION

Clear Primer must be used on TPO membrane before applying TPO Peel & Stick Pipe Boots.

The application of TPO Peel & Stick Pipe Boots should be as:

1.   Thoroughly mix Clear Primer. DO NOT THIN! A minimum of 2 minutes of vigorous hand mixing with a wooden paint stirrer or its equivalent is required. All sources of ignition should be eliminated; adequate ventilation should exist.

2.   Clean all surfaces with a clean cotton rag removing excess contamination prior to application of the primer.

3.   With a scrub pad and handle, apply Clear Primer to the TPO membrane using long and continuous back and forth strokes with heavy to moderate pressure along the bonding area until no streaks or puddling occurs.

4.   Allow Clear Primer to dry until slightly tacky to a dry finger touch.

5.   Cut the pipe boot to the desired diameter and slide down the pipe until the boot is approximately 50 mm (2") above the deck sheet.

6.   Remove the release paper from the underside of the pipe boot and apply the tape to the primed TPO surfaces.

7.   Using a Teflon coated or hard rubber roller, hand-roll the tape into the primed surface assuring adhesion.

APPLICATION PRECAUTIONS

  • Substrate must be clean, dry smooth, free of sharp edges, tins, loose, or foreign materials, oil, grease, and other materials which may damage the flashing.
  • All roughened surfaces which could damage the flashing shall be repaired as specified to offer a smooth substrate.
  • All surface voids greater than 6 mm (1/4") wide, including reinforced TPO membrane and field sheets, shall be properly filled with like material.
