TPO Clear Primer

DESCRIPTION

Clear Primer is an adhesion promoter that must be used prior to applying any Peel & Stick accessory to WeatherStar TPO systems.

INSTALLATION

Clear Primer is to be used on all AWS TPO Systems before applying any Peel & Stick accessory. Standard primer (black pigment) should not be used with white TPO Cover Tape due to staining of the membrane. 

The application of the Clear Primer should be as follows:

1.     Thoroughly mix Clear Primer. DO NOT THIN! A minimum of 2 minutes of vigorous hand mixing with a wooden paint stirrer or its equivalent is required. All sources of ignition should be eliminated; adequate ventilation should exist.

2.     Clean all surfaces with a clean cotton rag removing excess contamination prior to application of the primer.

3.     With a scrub pad and handle, apply Clear Primer to the TPO membrane and metal flange using long and continuous back and forth strokes with heavy to moderate pressure along the bonding area until no streaks or puddling occurs. 

4.     Allow Clear Primer to dry until slightly tacky to a dry finger touch.

5.     Position the peel and stick component over the primed area and remove the release paper from the component and apply the tape. Specifically, White TPO Cover Tape should be centered over the fasteners used to secure the edge metal.

6.     Using a Teflon coated or hard rubber roller, hand-roll the entire length of the tape into the primed surface assuring adhesion.

PRODUCT DATA

• Container size: 11.4 Liters (3 gallon) Pails.
• Store indoors in original unopened containers. Do not store on roof in direct sunlight.  When exposed to lower temperatures, restore to room temperature prior to use.
• Shelf Life: Shelf Life of 9 months can be expected when stored at temperatures between 16ºC (60ºF) and 27ºC (80ºF) in unopened containers. Shelf life will be shortened if exposed to elevated temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY DATA

This product is extremely flammable. Vapors may cause flash fires. Vapors may ignite explosively under certain conditions. Keep away from fire, sparks, and sources of heat.  Open all doors and windows. Extinguish all flames and pilot lights. Turn off electronic motors, stoves, or heaters, or any source of ignition during use and until all vapors have been dispersed. Do not smoke. Close containers after use. May cause possible skin irritations. May cause allergic sensitivity in susceptible subjects.

WARRANTY

American WeatherStar warrants that the material supplied will meet or exceed physical properties as published. The contractor guarantees that workmanship will be free of defects in coating application. Since performance of previously installed substrate is beyond the control of American WeatherStar or the contractor, requests for additional warranty coverage shall be subject to prior approval by American WeatherStar.
